Ribbon Dealer Tips

What should you consider to make the most out of being a Ribbon Dealer?

  • Come up with a fun way for people to earn your band:
Ribbons with a great story or activity can become very popular and highly sought after. Make your band stand out by giving it a fun or silly requirement to earn! You can always adapt your band's criteria as the Con goes on. Sometimes it takes a little trial and error to come up with something that everyone can enjoy and participate in. Don't be afraid to workshop your band's activity a little over the course of the weekend!

  • Saturday/Sunday is the Big Day:
As the con goes on, more and more first time players will be discovering and participating in the band game. It may seem like there aren't as many people collecting bands early on in the convention, but by Saturday/Sunday you can expect the number of people interested in your bands to grow exponentially.

  • Wear your Ribbon Dealer button proudly:
People will know to look for anyone with the button to ask about bands. Make sure your always wearing your button in a visible place when you are carrying your bands! (If you need an extra button, stop by Ribbon Ops!)

  • Attend the Ribbon Meetups:
Ribbon Meetups are social events that
happen several times throughout the convention. This is a great place for dealers and collectors to meet and swap bands! Your cons Ribbon Game social media page is the best way to find out when and where these will be.

  • Let people know where and how to find you:
People cant earn your band if they can't locate you at the con! Posting your whereabouts along with a picture of your bands on the Ribbon Game Facebook or Discord is a great way to get the word out about your bands!

  • Ribbon Dealer time is social time:Being a Ribbon Dealer is a great way to meet new people and expand your social circle at the convention. Wearing the Ribbon Dealer button is an invitation for new friends to approach you and strike up a conversation!

  • Remember to have fun!
The Ribbon Game is a purely fun experience! As a Ribbon Dealer you're a part of making everyone's con a little more memorable and lovely.

  • Don't be afraid to take a break, or say "no":
Distributing your band should be an enjoyable activity, it doesn't need to feel like a chore or a full time job. If you feel like you're getting overwhelmed with Ribbon Dealing, you can always simply take off your button for a while. People will understand that Ribbon Dealers need a break too! You do not owe it to others to be continuously distributing your bands. Remember, your bands are available on your own terms.
